YMCA Food Program
Outside of school. youth don't always have a guaranteed healthy meal. The Y offers hundreds of kids and teens a healthy meal every day so they can worry about being a kid, and not their next meal!
This evidence-based group exercise program for older adults uses simple, easy-t0-learn movements that motivate individuals (particularly those with arthritis) to stay active throughout their lives. Increased energy and strength along with improved balance help to prevent injuries and falls. Each class session includes fostering of strong social relationships between participants. A top concern among cancer survivors is the difficulty of returning to physical activity after treatment. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a 12-week physical activity program designed to get survivors back on their feet.
Healthy Out Of School Time And Combating Learning Loss
Solutions to childhood obesity, lack of physical activity, and food insecurities require lifestyle changes that are hard to implement. Teaching healthy habits is at the heart of CATCH Kids Club. Working with elementary school children, five days a week Literacy, Math, STEM and FUN provided.
Most children lose two months of academic skills in the summer. Others are challenged year-round. Programs like the Y's Camp Wanacombak, Prime Time Afterschool, CATCH Kids Clubs, and SPARKS are designed to help address this issue by engaging children in a wide variety of STEAM learning activities year-round.
